Above, is John Mayer’s recent Twitter reaction to Aussie fans who paid to see a recent Britney Spears concert.
Britney Spears has been performing her Australian leg of “The Circus” themed tour to promote her latest album. Australian fans rarely get to see Britney Spears, so they held high hopes for an excellent performance. However, when Britney Spears was not displayed on any of the large monitors equipped at the Perth, Australia venue, had her back to the audience the majority of the time, and greeted them with a generic fan-greeting message of: “”What’s up, Australia? How you feeling tonight? It’s so good to be here tonight. Your country is beautiful.” Hundreds of fans left the performance and complained to local papers after just three songs.
Fans felt the lip-syncing was covered up by the lack of giant monitors displaying her image, her back to the crowd, and the lack of any strain in her voice for all the energy of running around and dancing. Of course, lip-syncing is nothing new to Britney Spears as evidenced by a performance not that long ago and was a lot more blatant. However, national fans paid a hefty price for a ticket to her shitty show and now politicians in Australia are actually lobbying to force music providers to disclose whether or not their artists will be lip-syncing performances or not.
