Beata Bartoszewicz and her mother, Roma Borowski, were trapped in an elevator for two days before being rescued by a worker who happened into the building on Christmas Eve.

The two women were evidently cleaning the building and became trapped after closing. The building was not set to reopen until after Christmas.

The two women survived on two cough drops and six aspirin over the course of the two days. They slept huddled on coats and used a corner of the elevator as a bathroom.

A true survivor’s tale? Hardly. It was two fucking days. Unless you count death by boredom or perhaps even death by annoyance because you have to spend two days trapped with your Mom. The funny part of this story is not necessarily that the two were trapped but that the building was only two stories. What a lazy bunch to have an elevator in a two story building. You’re even lazier to use it.

As far as the cough drop/aspirin sustenance… Well, give me a Vicodin and a beer, and I think I’d be good for a week.

The elevator carpets have reportedly been removed and replaced.

Haha what a fucking sob story if I’ve ever heard one. She was quoted as saying she feared for her life at some point. Fucking liar. Way to [ab]use your ten seconds in the spotlight.

The story does seem a bit exaggerated.

Nice reporting as usual. The story seems blown WAY our of proportion. It sucks to be trapped but it was just a couple of days.

Lol, just a vic and a beer huh? Man’s man?

If there is one thing I cant stand it’s people taking the elevator to the second or third floor. I mean come on, it’s couldn’t be more than a few dozen stairs at most. The only reasonable explanation for the elevator would be if they had a cleaning cart thing with them, which most of the time they do.

Now on to the elevator itself. I I’m not mistaken, all elevators have an emergency call button on them, some even have a phone in there. I suppose since the building was shut down maybe these wouldn’t work, but, from what I’ve read they all seem to have some sort of back up power system built in, or they will go directly to the first floor if the power goes out.

Since I’m assuming some sort of safety feature was installed, there are only two reasons this could have happened. One, they are so dumb they didn’t look at the control panel in the elevator. Two, they could not speak/read english. Now, if your that stupid you deserve to be stuck in an elevator for two days with some cough drops, and if you can’t read then maybe you should go somewhere where you can communicate with the people around you.

I read a few articles about this and none of them mentioned a cleaning cart, which is why I’m assuming Bob made fun of the fact that they used the elevator to leave. My guess is they docked it prior to attempting to depart for the weekend, when they got stuck.

However, elevators do have safety features. The problem is that most elevators have a call button to somewhere within the building. Given that they were cleaning ladies, they were cleaning after hours. According to reports, calls for help did nothing because the building was closed.

Epic, poor timing, coupled with stupidity and laziness, seems to be what got those two idiots stuck in elevator for two days.

To top that off, they had to attempt to sensationalize their story. I don’t think anyone gives a shit, especially in a case where you essentially did it yourself.

I am not impressed by these women. I mean no cell phones, using elevators when there’s no emergency or any personnel in the building to go down one floor… And they did try to sensationalize their story.
